IMPROMPTU DESSERTS

Friday, September 28, 2012

My neighbour (who says that one day she will adopt me as her daughter), is getting married this weekend! And she has asked me to arrange some desserts for her dinner. So of course I'd agree!
.
.
.
It's in five days (I wrote this on 20120925) and guess what I've prepared so far?

Nope, not this! This was made at the beginning of summer. Green tea macs with red bean cream, coffee macs with coconut cream.

Not nothing, but pretty close to that: only the buttercream for the macarons. Hopefully I'll have some time to whip up some mac shells tomorrow, given that the weather cooperates and doesn't go all humid on me.

What have I been doing in lieu of making sweet things?

Pan fried salmon, because we need our omega-3s to have beautiful skin.

I've also been having lots of soy-based foods, like miso soup with tofu. The reason being that soy foods, like tofu has chemicals that is really similar to the shape of estrogen. So much so that your body intakes that as estrogen. Dear my female readers: eat more tofu~~

Miso soup with lots of tofu and lots of wakame.

Last weekend I went back home to spend some time with my family... and eat lots of food and also got shopping done! On my shopping adventures, besides buying more groceries, I bought got a new phone.

I've been saying that I wanted to root my phone since last week - but still haven't gotten around to doing it - even though I already downloaded all the stuff. -__-

WAS I ALWAYS THIS LAZY?

PERHAPS.

I JUST FEEL LIKE THERE'S ALWAYS SOMETHING THAT I HAVE TO DO, BUT THERE'S JUST NEVER ENOUGH TIME TO DO IT, OR EVEN WHEN THERE IS TIME, THAT ITEM THAT NEEDS TO BE CHECKED OFF MY LIST SEEMS TO VAPORIZE INTO THIN AIR FOR THAT MOMENT WHEN I'M NOT BUSY.

BUT THERE SEEMS TO ALWAYS BE SOMETHING THAT I AM NEVER LAZY FOR, AND THAT IS, OF COURSE, MAKING FOOD.

Sunny egg on pan-fried buttered toast

WHEN I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO MAKE, I USUALLY TURN TO FRIED RICE. HENCE, ONE NIGHT, WHEN WE WERE IN A RUSH TO GO SOMEWHERE, I QUICKLY MADE MY LAST-MINUTE-COOKING GO-TO DISH.

Kimchi fried rice - with spam, nappa, carrot, fish cake...

and egg.

WE WERE CRAVING KOREAN FOOD (ACTUALLY I THINK I WAS THE ONLY ONE), HENCE THE EGG TO MAKE IT LIKE BIBIMBAP. BUT WHY ARE THERE TWO YOLKS? IS IT BECAUSE I CRACKED TWO EGGS?

IT'S BECAUSE I HAD SOME LEFT OVER EGG YOLKS...FROM MAKING MACARONS! (WHICH, BY THE WAY, WERE A COMPLETE DISASTER BECAUSE THE WEATHER IN WATERLOO SEEMS TO BE OVER 60% HUMIDITY ALL THE TIME. *frustration*

THUS, I HAVE MADE MOUSSE CUPS INSTEAD :)

Ta-da~

Coffee jelly, coffee mousse, with caramel bits inside and on top

HAVE YOU MISSED MY DESSERTS? BECAUSE I THINK I'VE MISSED MAKING THEM. AND SOMEHOW, I WAS ABLE IN WHIP THESE UP IN UNDER THREE HOURS, THE DAY BEFORE THEY'RE NEEDED TOO! *applauds self*

Baileys mousse, caramelized banana and cream cracker bits

THESE LITTLE CUPS OF JOY WILL BE HANDED OVER TO MY LOVINGLY SWEET NEIGHBOUR IN CELEBRATION OF HER WEDDING ^-^ SO HERE'S TO L:

~CONGRATULATIONS~

I HAVE SO MUCH MORE FOOD TO TELL YOU ABOUT! BUT THAT WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT POST :)

UNTIL NEXT TIME,

ANOTHER EMBARRASSING STORY (BECAUSE IT JUST REMINDS ME OF HOW SLOW I AM TO EVERYTHING):

Quite a while back, when I still used MSN Messenger to chat with my friends (yes, this is quite some while back), my friend typed "bbl".

Do you know what that stands for? Because I didn't. And so I conjured up my own acronym for it, which was bye bye love. Sounds rather pleasant, doesn't it? But of course, I was dreaming and it was actually just

"Be Back Later"
